Home / Blog /A comprehensive overview of the many types of Human Hair Extensions

Human hair extensions are a great way to lengthen your own hair or add highlights, lowlights, and layers. There are many different types of human hair extensions from Brazilian/Remy, Indian, Chinese virgin wave to synthetic. Are you thinking about getting some extensions but don’t know the difference? This article will give you a breakdown of all the different types of human hair extensions in order for you to make an informed decision when purchasing your next set.

Brazilian Remy
Brazilian Remy is considered one of the highest qualities in extension available today because it comes from Brazil where women have been growing their hair longer than anywhere else in the world. The cuticle lines up perfectly making each strand silky smooth and shiny which is why it’s prized in the hair industry. This type of extension is usually offered in a Yaky or Silky texture similar to that of your own hair and is available in many colors including dark brown, medium brown, blonde and black.

Indian Remy
Indian Remy has a coarse and thick consistency making it ideal for full headsets. Indian Remy extensions are actually from India, not Mexico as some people have been led to believe! India has been specializing in weaving since 500 BC which makes this type of extension timeless making them very popular today. This quality also comes with an additional benefit because they will last longer than other types of extensions due to their sturdy strand structure. Consider going with Indian Remy extensions if you’re looking for a more natural look for everyday wear.

Chinese Virgin Wave
This type of extension has a very natural feel because the cuticle remains intact making each strand silky smooth. This texture is ideal if you are looking to match your own hair but still have the ability to wear them straight or curly.

Chinese Perm Straight
The Chinese perm straight quality is known for its durability, shine, and light texture that offers a barely-there feel when wearing it. The great thing about this type of extension is that they’re easy to maintain giving you the option to wear them curly or straight by either using hot tools or not which makes it perfect for someone who wears their hair in its natural state often.

Fusion extensions are considered one of the most popular types of extensions available today. The reason why is because they are created by gluing a strand of your own hair along with a fiber-optic bead to another strand of your own hair using a heated adhesive that only melts the two strands together giving you instant length and volume. Fusion extensions can be worn on short, long, or curly hair but do require more maintenance due to the fact that the beads need to be sealed every three to six weeks which makes them perfect for someone who wears their hair long or very curly often since sealing them will ensure longer wear between replacements.

Fusion Tape Extensions
Fusion tape extensions are a new product on the market and have been gaining extreme popularity over the past year because they are completely undetectable extensions. Each strand is only 0.7mm thin and glued to a flat 5cm wide tape that can be applied directly to your scalp without penetrating the hair cuticle. This type of extension is completely safe for someone who has experienced any type of alopecia, traction alopecia, or other hair loss problems because it does not contain piercing needle-like fusion extensions do.

Silk European Hair
This quality comes from Italy making it one of the highest qualities available today while also being extremely durable which makes it perfect for everyday wear while giving you maximum length and volume. In addition, this particular quality comes in a range of natural colors including dark brown, medium brown, blonde and black making it great if you want full headsets. Not only is the strand structure great but so is the cuticle which lines up perfectly giving each strand a silky smooth and shiny appearance.

There are many types of extensions available today that you can choose from but it comes down to individual preference as far as what you’re looking for in a particular extension type. Remember, not all types of extensions are going to be created equally because there’s a big difference between Chinese Remy hair, Indian Remy Hair, and Russian Remy hair for example making it important to educate yourself before shopping around to determine which quality works best for your personal needs.

Comprehensive hair

A: A general rule of thumb is anywhere from four to six weeks. It varies depending on the quality you purchase, for example; Indian Remy hair has a longer lifespan than Chinese Remy hair which lasts about two months on average since they’re not as durable (and less costly) making it perfect if you like changing up your look often and want short term wear without having to permanently install them.

A: You should never submerge or soak your extensions in water because this could cause them to tangle (turning your long lush locks into dreadlocks.) Instead, you should use warm water and shampoo with conditioner included preferably using a brand recommended by your stylist. Rinse thoroughly, then gently squeeze out the water and dry flat on a towel.

A: It’s best to wear them in their natural state because heat will only damage your own hair underneath, but if you must use heat it is recommended that you apply an anti-frizz serum that protects against high temperatures while providing moisture whenever you blow-dry or flat iron your new look. This ensures that it lasts longer while protecting your own strands underneath. If you don’t need to use any type of hot tools, simply wash your new look with shampoo and conditioner like stated above, leave to air dry (tilt head upside down while drying) then simply brush through for an easy straight smooth look!
